How Much Is This Going to Cost?
Because web design projects vary so much in scope and purpose, it is practically impossible to give a quote without knowing the details of a specific project. Most of my sites run between $1500 and $2500. Fill out my New Client Questionnaire, and I will get back to you promptly with a custom quote!
Your initial email consultation* is FREE. (If you need detailed ecommerce analysis or extensive research to find the best solution for your needs, I will charge hourly for those services). I require a non-refundable 50% retainer for the overall web design and concept. This must be paid and a signed contract submitted before I will put you on my schedule.
RUSH FEES: Please note that if you have a very tight and fast deadline, this price for the site can as much as double. In order to do a web site in a week, for example, from start to finish, I have to set back other clients and work very long, late hours; thus I have to adjust my fees accordingly.
* Because of my tight schedule, most consultations are done by email only. I am very experienced at gleaning the information I need and asking the right questions during our email consultation. This saves time and money for both of us, which can then be used towards the actual creation of your web site.
Found a Less Expensive Designer? Are you Sure?
My hourly rate is very competitive, but I’ll admit that you can find lower. Before hiring a web designer with a lower hourly rate, be sure to ask for an approximate quote to do the whole site and make sure they have an extensive portfolio. Because I have over 14 years experience working in web design and development, I work very quickly, usually finishing work well before the deadline. I may spend many fewer hours doing the same amount of work as a less-experienced web designer. Therefore while my hourly rate may be higher, you will be paying for fewer hours, and BONUS, have a beautiful and completed site a lot sooner. Remember, you get what you pay for.
When Is Payment Due?
I require a non-refundable retainer for the overall web design/concept and to reserve a block of time. Please note that I will not schedule work on your site until this retainer is paid and I have received your signed contract. The balance of the quoted fee is due within 30 days of design approval. Note that if you give me the necessary photos, text, and site feedback in a timely manner, your site should be done before your payment is due; however, the balance is due within 30 days of design approval even if the site is incomplete due to a delay in providing me with the necessary files. If this payment is not made on time, a $75 per month late fee will be incurred and all work on the site will stop until the payment is received. If your site has already been uploaded, it will be disabled until the payment, including late fees, is made.
What About Updates?
I can do updates and revisions to your web site at the $75 per hour rate, billed in 15-minute increments. I have a 15-minute minimum charge, so I recommend sending updates in batches rather than bits and pieces. I will bill monthly for time used during the preceding month.
What About Trade or Barter?
I love the whole concept of barter; however, due to my busy schedule I am not able to make these arrangements. Most people find that my fee is so reasonable that they are able to comfortably pay for a site they never thought they could afford!
